We had lots of dandelions this year and they seemed to have popped up over night at the beginning of May. Here we are coming towards the end of May and they have all seeded out. Oh more will come but it will be a here and there type of thing, patches of them instead of a field of them.
So this year I dyed wool.
Used alum to mordant my wool for about and hour, rinsed and placed it in the dye vat after I took out all the dandelions using a small strainer.
Simmered for about an hour and then let it just sit until it cooled.
Rinsed...
I also placed some old lace that had been mordant with the wool into the dye vat.
This is cotton.
All so very pretty!
